Time Barred
Red letters scream through gridded haze,
Caged within the credit maze.
Each tick a cost, each breath a fee—
A prison built by urgency.

This gouache on paper adopts a text-based abstract expressionist approach, combining vertical black bars, scraped textures, and distressed layers with the stark typographic stamp of “TIME.” The visual language echoes constructivist urgency and urban decay, making it both a material metaphor and a conceptual protest. As part of the Credit Card Collection, it critiques the commodification of time within a system driven by debt, speed, and restriction.
